My academic background: I received my Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Purdue University, my master's in Systems and Computing Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, and my bachelor's in Systems and Computing Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
I am a researcher, a teacher, and a colleague. As researcher, I am committed to understand and promote the development of the ability to address complex socio-technical systems in k-16 education. This skill has components of systems thinking and design thinking. I am also committed to disseminate what I learn in all the possible ways I can. I am also interested in understanding how to facilitate the learning of other thinking skills such as design thinking, mathematical thinking, and computational thinking.
As a teacher, I am committed to providing students the learning environment they need to unlock their full potential.
As a colleague, I am committed to professional development, and that is why I seek opportunities to be involved in offering professional development workshops to support other faculty who, as I did in the past, seek for such activities that can help them improve their teaching.
I have taught professional development workshops, graduate and undergraduate students since 2004. I also have academic administrative experience since I coordinated the professional internships, the Service Learning program, and the mandatory graduation projects in the Systems and Computing Engineering department at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. I have advised and mentored graduate and undergraduate students.
